A quick explanation for those of you keeping score at home trying to figure out the Ruger Math equation. On Monday, July 13, Kirk and Mike sat in the blind for our fifth hunt with my new gear. By the end of the hunt, we had killed six pigs.

In case you are using that fancy vision of yours to count the ammunition in the above photo, you will notice there are only nine rounds of Hornady Precision Hunter 143 grain remaining in the box. Time for a bit more math.

First Three Shots

In the Better Shots post, Kirk and Mike had three confirmed kill shots.

Shots Four to Eight

In the Better Spotter or Shut Up And Shoot post the five shots taken by Mike with Wendy as the spotter at the Blackwood Gun Club are described. You might recall the key lesson learned was let the spotter spot and the shooter “shut up” and shoot.

Shot Nine

Pig number four was shot early on Sunday morning. Before daybreak a single pig came in to investigate the corn piles. We used the night vision capability of the AGM Spectrum LRF 4K scope to track the pig. The video starts with system generated audio telling you a wild pig is seen in the scope. Next you hear Kirk providing the following directional commands: Go up, go up, right, hold and fire. Within a few seconds of the shot, the system generated narrative ends telling you the pig lays motionless.

Shot 10

Mike does not recall the exact directional commands Kirk provided to line up the below shot nor did he know Kirk was attempting to kill two pigs with one shot. Spoiler alert, bullet 10 resulted in fatal shots of pigs five and six.

Shot 11

Ride along as Mike uses Meta glasses to record the recovery of pig five and pig six. Trigger alert, two impressive blood trails were found. Combined, the two pigs traveled less than 50-yards after being shot. While it took another follow-up shot to finish off the smaller pig that was standing in front of the larger pig, which was the primary target. Neither pig was going to survive the number 10 shot placement.

The Gear

The picture shows, and the following list contains, the gear used on the hunt.

The rifle is a Ruger American Generation II chambered in 6.5 PRC purchased from Scheels and includes a Salmon River Solutions Arca Rail and a Hornady sling. 

The suppressor is a Resilient simple man.

The scope is an AGM Spectrum LRF 4K that can be connected to an Apple iPad using the AGM Connect app.

John Ray, with Sharp Gun Works, handled the suppressor purchase, transferred the rifle, mounted the scope and installed the rail.

The ammunition shot is Hornady Precision Hunter 143 grain.

The ballhead mount is a Barker Outdoors BOG adapter that is mounted on a BOG DeathGrip Tripod.
