In this video you will learn how to put Your CRONOS Audio-Slalom signal generator into USB mode. USB mode is used to update the list of skiers and review the log files.
You will need:
- CAS Handheld Unit
- A computer with a USB Type A connection
- The USB Type A to CAS Handheld connection cable shipped with your CAS.
- The USB dongle shipped with your CAS. Use of the dongle prevents mismatch errors occurring due to differences in your computer and the CAS Handheld USB versions.
Here are the steps to follow:
- Power on your computer.
- Plug the USB dongle into your computer.
- Plug the USB to CAS connection cable into the dongle.
- Plug the CAS connection cable into the CAS Handheld Unit.
- The handheld will display “Date and time – Ok to confirm – Up to edit”, you need to “press the OK” button. The “OK” button is located in the center of the directional (up, down, left and right) buttons.
- The handheld will display “et zero line – Ok to set”, you need to “press the OK” button.
- The handheld will display “Main Menu – Competition”, you need to “press the down” button.
- The handheld will display “training”, you need to “press the down” button.
- The handheld will display “Tools”, you need to “Press the down” button.
- The handheld displays “USB storage”, you need to “press the OK” button.
- The handheld displays “USB Active”.
- Your computer should alert you a connection was made and open the USB drive in File Manager.
Working with the USB drive.
Because the USB connection can be a bit unstable at times, I suggest, you:
- Copy all the files from the USB to a location on your computer.
- Delete all “.cas” log files off the handheld. A new “.cas” file is created on the handheld each time a pass is skied. The file name will consist of the date-time stamp for the pass. There will likely be several “.cas” files on your handheld.
- There also might be a “skiers.lst” file on your handheld that was pre-populated with a list of skiers names. You can edit the “skiers.lst” file on your computer using a text editor such as Windows Notepad. If the “skiers.lst” file does not exist, create a new file using Windows Notepad. You can enter as many skiers names as needed. Be sure to press “Enter” after each skier’s name.
- Copy the “skiers.lst” file from your computer to the handheld. Be sure to replace the file on the handheld with your updated file.
The “skiers.lst” file on my handheld has the following names:
