This post provides contact information for the people who assisted and the vendors used as I gathered the gear needed to allow me to start hunting as a totally blind man. Once again I found that as with many challenges, “making the right connections and using the correct technology can turn something you did not think was possible into yet another accomplishment”.
I hope, the below information launches your hunting adventures. If I can help, contact me.
• Rani with Disabled Outdoorsmen put me in contact with Helotes Tactical.
• A Winchester XPR 300 Win Mag was purchased from Jack with Helotes Tactical.
• The rifle was shipped to Texas Loot where I completed the gun transfer paperwork and had the rifle laser sighted.
• Episode 101 of The Eyes Free Sports Podcast, directed me toward Drew Blake, president and co-founder of the nonprofit Guiding Eyes Outdoors.
• Drew put me in contact with Michael Edmonds with Blind Outdoors Adventures .
Michael put me in contact with Jason to purchase the Accufire Noctis V1 sight.
• Michael also suggested use of the BOG Death Grip tripod.
• Remington Core-Lokt 300 Winchester Magnum 150 Grain Centerfire Rifle Ammo was purchased from Cabela’s.
• Blackwood Sporting Company is the range used to practice shooting and sight in my rifle.
The below picture shows my Winchester XPR equipped with an Accufire Noctis V1 Sight mounted on a BOG Death Grip tripod Yes, it is a left-handed bolt as I learned to shoot lefthanded because way back in the day my left eye was my master eye. Today, both of my eyes are “Dead Eyes”, but with the assistance from the most important contact, Kirk Musgrove, my hunting companion and I were able to accomplish a Successful Whitetail Doe Hunt.

You can read the hunting page to learn about my limited success as a early childhood low vision hunter or check out all the hunting post to learn how I now hunt being totally blind.
