Happy 18th Birthday Eric!

A picture of newborn Eric. He is laying on his stomach on a blue blanket in an incubator. The preemie diaper Eric is wearing is much too large for him.

Eighteen years ago today, Eric entered this world at 29 weeks of pregnancy via an emergency cesarean delivery.  In the above picture he weighed about 3.25 pounds. To read about Eric’s first seven weeks of life in the NICU you can visit the Royal Family Birth Weight Challenge page.

To celebrate this milestone birthday and in recognition of their work “to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies”, we are launching a seven week long fundraiser for the March of Dimes. Use this link to make a donation to March of Dimes Do-It-Yourself Fundraising – Mike Royal.

This week’s suggested donation is $15. Incidentally, Eric’s birth weight was equal to the weight of about 725 dimes or just a few dimes short of the 750 dimes (15 rolls) stacked in a pyramid on top of one of Eric’s preemie outfits in the below picture.
