No Bones About It

Dog bone shaped cookies with the names Adele, Becky, Don, Grace, Liz, and Rex in blue icing.

Wendy and Taylor were busy this past weekend baking and decorating over 40 bone shaped cookies. While Wendy is no longer a Co-Area Coordinator for the Houston FFA puppy raising group in the Fort Bend Independent School District, sometimes she will attend a meeting to catch up with the high school students and their puppies. On this occasion, Wendy and Taylor were providing each raiser with a cookie with their puppy’s name on it.

As the cookies were decorated, the names:

Adele, Becky, Don, Grace, Liz, and Rex stood out because last Memorial Day weekend we met a Southeastern Guide Dog School van in Pensacola, Florida to transport these puppies to Houston, Texas. The six puppies were all well behaved on our nine hour leg of their 15 hour road trip that started from Palmetto, Florida.

As the video shows, in addition to the four people and guide dog, Subi, all six puppies were glad to get out of the mid-sized SUV and stretch their legs in our backyard.

The video also features testimonials from some of the puppy raisers about their experience this past year. We extend a big thank you to the raisers and wish them well.

Finally, we are looking forward to learning what the future holds for the puppies as they return to Southeastern Guide Dog School campus this summer for formal training.
